God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, co-equal and one. Unlimited in time, space, knowledge, and power, God the Father has purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and planned, for His glory, all that comes to pass. In His perfect sovereignty, He is neither the author nor the approver of sin.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present and active in the world, drawing people to an awareness of their need for Jesus Christ. He empowers believers for life and service, following the same pattern described in the New Testament. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right, giving every believer a spiritual gift and calling each one to live daily under His direction.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. On earth, He was fully God and fully man, the only person who ever lived a completely sinless life. Born of a virgin, He performed miracles, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return again in power and glory.

The pressure to be sinlessly perfect can be crushing, leaving people feeling defeated and ready to give up. God never meant for us to carry that weight. His grace takes it off our shoulders. Forgiveness isn’t something we earn by being good, it’s a gift we receive through faith in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9) God’s grace isn’t a freedom to remain in the same life or lifestyle. It is our motivation to deny godlessness and our eagerness to glorify God through our works. (Titus 2:11-14, Matthew 5:16)

Salvation is a gift from God, not something any person can earn through self-improvement or good works. The only path to forgiveness is through faith in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of grace to mankind. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ through faith, repentance, and baptism. (Acts 2:37-41) God raised Him from the dead and now offers, as a free gift, eternal life to all who follow Christ as Lord and Savior. (Ephesians 2:8-10) That is why salvation is found in Christ alone.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, living Word of God without error in its original writings and authoritative in every matter of faith and practice. Scripture reveals who God is, who we are, and how we were created to live. It serves as the answer to our daily lives (Psalm 119:105) and to eternity. (John 5:24)

Baptism by full immersion in water is far more than a symbol, it is the moment a believer calls on God to wash away their sins and formally enters into a new life in Christ. (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16) It mirrors the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, marking the end of the old life and the beginning of the new. (Romans 6:3-4) Baptism does not save because it is a good work. It saves because in it, we are calling on God in faith to do what only He can do. (1 Peter 3:21) It is an essential step of obedience in receiving God’s saving grace and beginning the journey of eternal life. (Titus 3:5)

The Church was never meant to be a building you visit once a week. It was meant to be a family, a community of people knit together by a shared faith in Jesus Christ and a shared commitment to living out what He taught. At Pleasant Plains, that’s what we’re trying to be. Not perfect. Not polished. Just a group of people genuinely pursuing Christ together and making room for anyone who wants to join us.

Every Sunday, the Pleasant Plains family gathers around the Lord’s Supper breaking bread and sharing the cup in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) This practice reflects the pattern of the early church (Acts 20:7) and serves as a sacred pause in our week, a moment to step away from the noise, reflect on what Christ did for us, and anchor ourselves again in His love and grace. (Matthew 26:26-28) It is both deeply personal and deeply communal, a reminder that we do not follow Jesus alone.

Jesus Christ is returning. This is not a vague hope, it is a biblical promise. He will come again to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God’s eternal kingdom. Every person who has ever lived will experience a bodily resurrection, some to eternal life, some to eternal judgment. This reality shapes how we live today, what we prioritize, and why the Gospel matters more than anything else we could give our lives to.
